Designer Challenge "MAKE IT FLUFFY"

It's time once again for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month the theme is "Make It Fluffy". My mind went to a cute little lamb.

I used the Little Twist Panel Pop-up to make my sheep pop up and, of course, a cute black sheep in the center. It's hard to tell from the photo but I used flocked paper for the sheep so they are indeed - FLUFFY

Thank ewe for stopping by,

Designer Challenge - Autumn or Christmas Cheer

 Hello Friends,

It's time once again for the Designer Challenge and this time Karen has challenged the team with Autumn or Christmas cheer.  Since the colors of Autumn are among my favs, I went with Thanksgiving.  I love Thanksgiving because it is the only celebration for eating, something I excel at.

I've linked all the products I've used below as well as Karen's assembly video.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving,

Designer Challenge - borders, borders, borders

 Hi everyone,

It's time for the Karen Burniston Designer challenge and this month her challenge is borders, borders, borders.  I thought it would be fun to make my own background paper using the cupcake border from the Baking Borders set and I went colorful for this one.

I decided to go with the rainbow and used the colors of the rainbow but I did get a rather heavy handed with the color so it is a bright one.

I started out by making my own rainbow paper using bright colored Oxide Inks.  On each of the stripes, which are 1" wide, I placed a row of cupcakes from the Baking Borders.  From the same die set I used the backing for the pies to make the circle border.

From the Vault - Designer Challenge

Hello my friends and welcome to the May 2024 Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month Karen has asked the team to create a new card based on one that we have previously made.  Well, I have to say that I have lots more than one, I have posted several cards on my blog using the Little Twist Panel Pop Up which is my all time fav.  This die is so versatile, you can use one or two panels per card. Both make a wonderful full card.

My card for today is for my friends 85th birthday so it had to be special.  I used lots of colorful birthday die cuts and some festive colors to complete the card. Karen wanted us to show a photo of our inspiration card but I had so many I decided to share my top 6 favorites. Looks like I've gotten a lot of use from this die set.

If you click on the title below each photo it will take you to the blog post where there are more photos and some videos to see the cards in action.  I have linked the products I used below, simply click on the photo to see the details.

The Magic of OZ

Steampunk Bliss

For the three cards above I used some great Graphic 45 images that I've had in my stash for some time.
You don't have to use the papers for the theme but it does make them come to life in a new way.

Thirst Quencher

 Hello Friends and welcome,

It's time for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge and this month we were challenged with the theme - Thirst Quencher.

I made this card for our son's birthday which was earlier this month.  He loves to grill, and drink beer. Personally, I'll skip the grilling.  I placed a giant beer mug on the card front with two different greeting on the inside.

I found some perfect paper online from "reminisce" called Cold One.  I got it on Amazon.  I will link it below if I can.

For the beer mug on the front I looked for clipart on line.  I simply typed in freeclipart in the search box and found what I needed.  I like to select the one I want by clicking on it, do a right click on the image and then click on copy image.   Next I open Word on my computer - get a new page - right click on the page and finally click paste.  After the image appears, I size it and then print it.  Once it is printed I cut it out using the Scan n Cut but you could also fussy cut it.

I backed my mug with black because it matched the background.  I needed a tab so I left extra paper on the left side of the mug and scored it to create the tab.  Be sure that you score on the left side of the widest part of the mug.  In this case it was the foam drip (shown above with the line of yellow stars).

I wanted to pop up the word "Cheers" so I used the Karen Burniston Flip Frame mechanism to do that.
I decorated the rest of the page with stickers from the paper pack.

The back side of the paper was decorated with kegs and assorted beer mugs so all I had to do was add the sticker and then Happy Birthday.

June Designer Challenge

Welcome to the June Designer Challenge - this month Karen Burniston challenged the team to make a card featuring either Wedding or Baby.  My thought was about a gender reveal.  You would never guess the gender from the outside of this Slider Box card.  I used the Slider Box card along with the Surprise Cubes to create this fun and surprising card.

This is how it looks all closed up.  No one could guess the surprise inside.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out all the makes from the design team.

See you again soon,

April Designer Challenge - BUNNY

 Hello my crafty friends -

It's the first Tuesday of the month and that means Designer Challenge Day!  YAY !!

This month Karen Burniston has challenged us with the theme "BUNNY", since I love a cute Easter Bunny and an even cuter gnome, why not combine them?

I used the Fancy Frame Accordion die set to create my card.  As you can see, it folds flat for mailing and opens up to reveal an impressive card.

Here is a close up of the Bunny Gnome - so cute!!
All the products I used for this card are listed below.  Simply click on the photo to see the details.

Hoppy Easter,

Frosty Doffs His Top Hat

 Hello My Crafty Friends,

It's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge Day and this month we are challenged with the theme - Snowman.  I thought I would like to make my "Frosty" doffing his top hat so I used the Mailbox Pop Up die set to accomplish that and I'm happy with the result.  You can see all the products I used listed below, simply click on the photo to see more information.

This is a 4.5" X 6.25" card.  I used the Rectangle Crosshatch to create my front panels.  All the fun of this card is on the inside so I kept the front simple.

On the inside I used the Mailbox Pop Up to make his arm move.  I assembled the mailbox just as Karen shows in her instruction video below.  I used pieces from several different snowmen along with some items from the Snowman Add Ons.

Thank you for joining me today,

Designer Challenge - Mini Slimline

 :Hello Friends,

It's Designer Challenge day and this time Karen wants us to make a mini slimline.  I had a double challenge this time because my friend, Mary, showed me a card that pops up from the center and asked if I could do that.  As it turns out, yes, I can.

I used the Flower Pot lattice section to hold all the goodies.  I did some alterations which I explain in the video.  All the products I used are linked below so all you need to do is chick on the link to see all the details.

Have a creative day,

Designer Challenge Day - Window Card

Hello - it's Designer Challenge Day and this month Karen Burniston is Challenging us to make a window card of any kind.  I have decided to get ahead of the game (unusual for me) and make our Thank You card for our Thanksgiving hosts.  I have all the step by step instructions in the video and I have linked all the products I used below so you can easily find them.

I always like to challenge myself to do something different so I used parts and pieces from 12 different die sets on this card.  That is one thing I love about Karen's dies, they all work together.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team made for this challenge and don't forget to check out the Karen Burniston Pop-Up Peeps on FB.

See you soon and happy fall y'all,

S@ndy

October Designer Challenge - Haunted

 Hello friends and welcome back,

Today is the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge and this month we are challenged to make a card that has a haunted theme.  I decided to go with a Haunted Farm where everything is spooky with the farm animals dressed up to go Trick or Treating.

The adorable little ghost has taken over the barn and as you can see - the weather vane has been captured by a black spider.
The cow is all dressed up in his cape and mask and that cute horse is disguised as a cowboy.

The front is simple with another ghost and Happy Halloween Greeting.

Thanks for joining me today and don't forget to stop by the Karen Burniston Pop Up Peeps FB page for lots more inspiration.

Have a creative week,

S@ndy
