Celebrate You

Hello friends,

I'm so happy you could join me today for a special card.  I made this card for my friend who has a December birthday.  December birthdays are difficult because they seem to get caught up in all the holiday festivities.  That's why I like to make an extra special card for the December people on my list..  I used lots of dies and stamps from Elizabeth Craft Designs and I'm so happy with the results.  This card is also part of the challenge for this month - so don't forget to stop over at the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog to see what the entire team made and to enter the contest for a gift card. All you have to do is answer a question - simply click here.

Here is the question this month:

Which of the Garden Notes – Frame It/Stitched die sets would you use on a
project and how would you use it.

Here's how I made it -
You can check the links below to see all the great products I used.

I began by cutting two ovals, one in each panel for the front of the card.  I placed foam tape all around the opening of the larger panel.

Using a separate panel of Soft Finish Cardstock I added Distress Oxide Ink, Worn Lipstick.  When the ink had dried, I spritzed it with water and blotted dry.

Next I added the pink panel behind the opening of the front and then added the entire panel to a darker pink Soft Finish cardstock base.

I made my poinsettias and added them along with the leaves to the card.  Earlier I cut some berry branches and added Nuvo Drops to them.  Once they were dry, I cut the branches apart and tucked them in behind the poinsettias.  The final touch was adding the sentiment.

The front of the card turned out beautifully with so many shades of pink all working together.

For the inside I used the beautiful Poinsettia Stamp Set.  The stamp was colored and the panel was added to the card and the words Happy Birthday were added.

Here is short video clip - Enjoy,

The Festival of Lights

Happy Hanukkah to all my Jewish friends - I hope your season is filled with light and love.
I'm sharing a clean and simple card today made with lots of wonderful products from

This card was fun and easy to put together.  I had purchased some lovely Hanukkah stickers earlier this year so paired them up with some great shapes from ECD.  I used the Dashing Circles and Rectangles and then popped up the circle with the General Pop Ups die.

Till next time,

Ink It

Hi my friends - so happy to have you joining me today.  It's the first Tuesday of the month and, of course, that means a Karen Burniston Challenge and this time it is INK IT.

I made this fun character card using lots of Karen's dies and I even turned some of them into stamps. I also used lots of blue ink in the process and there is a video to go with it.

Enjoy

This was a fun challenge - if you are interested in any of the products I used, simply click on the links below.

Happy Birthday Helen!

Hi Friends,

Well, we all survived Thanksgiving and we are still eating leftovers.  Mac does all the cooking at our house and tonight we are having Turkey Soup.

I made this card for my friend Helen who had a birthday earlier this month.  I gave her the card personally so I know it's safe to show it here.    I used the Flower Pot Pop Up die from Karen Burniston.  I mixed some balloons with greenery from the Flowers and Bee die set to make the perfect balloon bouquet,  Enjoy!!

You can see all the dies I used linked below - just click on the item for more information .

I kept the front simple - because the fun is on the inside.

See you soon,

Celebrate the Season

Hi Everyone,

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

It has been a busy week and here I am again.  Today the folks at Elizabeth Craft Designs are celebrating the season with some festive gift box ideas.  These cute little boxes are perfect for that special small gift.  I also like them as table decorations and place cards for a holiday dinner. They also look amazing as a home décor item with a battery operated candle.

Designer Suzanne Cannon is holding a special event on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog and the design team has gathered up some wonderful ideas to share with you using the Gable Box.  You can see all the designs by clicking here.

I made the boxes above especially for this event and I made the ones below a few weeks ago and there is a tutorial on the blog with all the details.  Simply Click here.

Let the holiday shopping and decorating begin!!!

A Floral Christmas

Welcome friends,

Today is the Designer Challenge at Elizabeth Craft Designs and our theme is A Floral Christmas.  What could be more festive than an entire Christmas Tree decorated with Poinsettias?  I hope you enjoy my take on the challenge where I have used so many wonderful Elizabeth Craft Designs products which are all linked below.  All you have to do is click to shop.

You can see everything the team made by clicking here.  You will be delighted at how clever the team is with their creations.  You also have a chance to win a gift card by answering this fun question

Which Elizabeth Craft Designs flower or foliage die or stamp set would you chose to create a Christmas card or decoration?

Here is my card - Enjoy!

I used the Elegant Christmas Tree for the base but did have some trouble finding a poinsettia that is small enough to fit on the tree so I got creative and used the flower portion of the "Garden Notes" Jasmine and as you can see it was a perfect match.  I made the background by stamping and heat embossing the Snowflakes Stamp Set and then adding some Distress Oxide Ink over the top.

Pumpkin Spice Time

Hello everyone,

My favorite time of year is Fall, I love the feel of the cooler air and the colors that go along with the season.  I just love combinations of orange, brown and mustard.  I also love the flavors that are associated with Fall, like Pumpkins Spice!

For my spicy card - I used some great interactive dies from Karen Burniston.  Nothing too complicated but so much fun.  You can see an instruction video on this card by clicking here.
You can shop for the dies I used by clicking the links below.

Until next time,

Paper Pros - Christmas Holidays

Today is the Paper Pros challenge and frankly, I just ran out of time.  Since time was short and I still wanted to participate I decided to revisit a post I did some time ago.  Karen Burniston has re-released her Christmas Tree Pop Stand and it has been a popular one.  This die is so versatile and easy to assemble that I wanted to share this once more. I made the Christmas Tree Pop Stand in an explosion box.

You can see a complete tutorial on how I made this "tree in a box" by clicking here.  You can easily make this project by substituting Karen's old products which are no longer available for the new ones linked below.

Give it a try,

The Challenge is "CHRISTMAS TREE"

Hi friends and welcome back,

Today is the Karen Burniston monthly challenge and as you have already seen, the challenge is CHRISTIMAS TREE.  Karen asked us to incorporate a Christmas Tree in our design.  I have decided to incorporate mine on the front of the card as well as the inside, all with the same tree!!.

I have been thinking about this design since I saw a card from my team mate, Frances Byrne.  She made her tree on both sides of the card front and it made me ask myself, self, why can't it be one tree on both sides?  So here are the results.  I have a full video below with all the instructions in case you want to make one for yourself.

Don't forget to stop over at Karen's Blog tomorrow for a new technique video, it's always fun to see what she comes up with.

THE FIX

If you watched the video, I have explained how I made a placement error and how I fixed it.
I had accidently placed the two smaller trees in the center too low on the card.  This made a catch point when the card closed.  To fix that I simply cut down the two smaller trees (shown in the circle) and replanted them at a higher elevation.  You can see the new placement at the end of the video.

See you soon,
Sandy

Use Your Paper Stash

Hi my friends and welcome back,

Today is the start of a brand new challenge at A Vintage Journey and I'm your hostess this month.  The theme is Paper Stash and we are inviting you to use the paper that you just couldn't bring yourself to cut into.  It's time to let go!

I really haven't had this paper long but I really love everything about it.  It is from Graphic 45 and is called IMAGINE.  It is full of whimsical images, fabulous colors and it really stirs the imagination.

To make it come to life I have used the Twist Panel Pop Up die from Karen Burniston.  You can see how it moves in the short video clip below.

You can also join in the fun this month by adding you project to the Vintage Journey blog.

Hope to see you there,
S@ndy
