3D Tag Friday at A Vintage Journey

Hi everyone and welcome-

Today is the 5th Friday of the month (if you're on London time) and that means TAGS at A Vintage Journey.  The team has really gone the extra mile this time with some fabulous tags.  Please stop on over by clicking here to share in the creativity and fun.

 

For my tag I, of course, went with Halloween.  I have a large box of extra Configuration Boxes and sometimes like to use them on a small project like this one.  I gave my tag a 3D treatment by using a chipboard tag and a Configuration Box. 

 

 

 You can see Tim's influence everywhere in this project.  I have been playing with my Gelli Plate and used it to make the background then added some stamping on top.

 

This project will be perfect for the Anything But Cute Challenge where they are asking for a Halloween theme as well as the use of the number 31.

 

They are having a throwback at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge so I went with  October 2013 “Spooky”.

September TH Tag

Tim used the Mini Typewriter on his tag but I didn't want to copy his idea so I went with the Mini Fan, a Mover and Shaper die from his line.  What comes to mind when you see a vintage fan? Cool air, right?  Here in Arizona we are always wishing for "COOL"

It just so happens that this tag is doing double duty this month.  Linda over at Studio L3 has posted her challenge from Tim's book Compindium of Curiosities Vol. 2.  This one fits the bill for this challenge. Wish me luck as there is a $25 gift certificate up for grabs from the generous Linda, the Funkie Junkie.

I started out with a tag of course and covered it with foil tape. I pressed it down as well as possible but in the end it will be OK since it will be run through the embossing folder. Some of the flaws will disappear and some will be covered up.  I used the TH Riveted Embossing Folder.  Tim used black paint on his but I used brown only because I had brown. I'm happy with the result as it looks like rust.  I simply covered the entire surface with paint and then wiped off the excess with a baby wipe. 

Next I tore a page from an old book and used a strip to go across the tag.  Using the Color Blender I used both Vintage Photo and Aged Mahogany Distress Ink for the edges.

I cut the fan out of Grungeboard and then colored the black parts with a  Sharpie.  I then added the center using the "S" from the TH Type Charms.

I used the Wordplay Die to cut out the word COOL from black chipboard.

I then started to assemble all the parts.  When I added the fan and COOL I used some foam tape strips to lift it up.  Punching a hole through the foil tape at the top I added a black ribbon from my stash and then added a Trinket Pin and a Philosohy Tag.  I decided to use the #9 because September is the 9th month.

With the top of the tag done I finished the bottom portion off with a Word Band and a File Tab that says "wishes",  wishing you a cool day.
