More Than A Simple Snowflake

Hi friends and welcome back,

Today I have some fun ideas to share with you using one of the new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Sometime looks can be deceiving - when you see a lovely snowflake die like the one just released from Elizabeth Craft Designs - you immediately think of a card and that is a great idea.  I've done a little thinking outside the box for this die set and I hope you enjoy it.

This would be a great project to do with children because it is fast, easy and looks elegant.  These lovely snowflakes would be a nice addition to a Christmas tree or window decoration.

As you can see from the photo, they look great all by themselves or you can add any embellishment or charm to make them extra special.

To get all the details about this Snowflake - you can click on the link below.

Here are a few details if you would like to make your own.

To make these dimensional ones - simply follow the directions below.

                         Cut two of each size.

Die cuts have a right and wrong side, if you would like your die cut to look the same on both sides all you need to do is the following.  You can see the difference in the photo above.  This is fine if you are gluing to a flat surface but for the snowflakes - I like to flatten them out.

To flatten, place the die cut in a sandwich of plain paper and run it through your die cutting machine.  If you have a precision plate or a metal shim that is even better.

Once all pieces are flat, cut one from the top center to the middle and the other one from the bottom   center to the middle.   Slide them together so they match up perfectly.  You will see where the half point meets the solid piece on each side.   Add a drop of glue under the half section on all sides (there will be 4)

When glue is set, hold with twisters and open each side in the other direction giving it 4 sides as shown below.

Add some string or fishing line to hang it with.  You could also add beads to the string for a more decorative look.

If you feel like getting fancy, you can cut an opening in the center while the snowflakes still flat (using one of the Fitted Circles) and then hang a charm or add a bubble.

Thanks for stopping by,
See you soon,
S@ndy
