Hi My Blogger Friends,
Today I'm sharing my first art journal. The cover is shown below - now I just have to have fun filling it up. I hope you had a chance to take a look at all the fabulous art that has been posted this past week over at "A Vintage Journey". The new challenge is SAY IT WITH WORDS so I think this will fit in perfectly. All you Tim Holtz fans will recognize his products. I used plenty and really like the new ones. I also plan to post this over at "Mixed Media Place" blog where the current challenge is CURIOSITY. It will be a true curiosity to see what I fill it up with. You may also recognize the beautiful Prima flower and the fantastic Finnabair clock pieces.
For some time now I have been seeing artists that I like make art journals and post them on their blogs. I confess, at first I didn't get it. After seeing some entries and some really fantastic art work I finally saw the light. It was like -------
I picked up a journal at my local craft store and got right to work. I usually like to provide a complete tutorial but I got caught up in the moment with this one and forgot to take pictures along the way - so sorry. Anyway all I have to share is the before and after.
Wishing you an artful day -

Wow Sandy! Your first art journal cover is amazing! I totally love all of the elements that you've combined here to create such a dimensional and textural piece. Really love the colors and the patina feeling I am getting from the blue and greenish overtones. Gorgeous! <3 Candy
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work!
ReplyDeleteWow, I LOVE THIS!!!! So dimensional and those patina colours are totally stunning!!! Love some of the little details, like the petals coming out of the head, and those pen nibs looks brilliant together like that. Great inspiration and thanks so much for joining us n A Vintage Journey with this piece!!
ReplyDeleteSandy what a fabolous journal you created. I adore the vintage looking like real patina. You have been very creative making this art piece.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the head inside the clock ? Is it clay or one you bought ??
Thank you so much for sharing.
Hugs from SPAIN
Thank you for your kind comments. The head is Ice Resin - I had some extra resin mixed up when making my Tick Tock project and poured the extra in a mold. The molds are from Krafty Lady.

ReplyDeleteOh wow this is amazing - I saw it on the Vintage Journey blog :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful :o) Though as soon as I saw your name on the Vintage Journey blog as I've seen some of your work in Just Steampunk! Love the combination of Finnabair and Tim - keep promising myself some of those word lightbulbs!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you embraced the lightbulb moment! This is gorgeous! X
ReplyDeleteSooo gorgeous artwork, Sandy.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend
Oh wow Sandy, your art journal cover is absolutely stunning! It has a wonderful 'aged' feeling to it. Steffi (above) is right, it is a wonderful combination of Tim and Finn. I love your use of the letterpress too, my newest love! Thanks for your visit and thank you too for joining in our challenge over at A Vintage Journey too. Anne xx
ReplyDeleteSandy this is an amazing piece of work!! I'm loving your background and colour selection. Karen.x
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!! Debi x
ReplyDeleteStunning cover, can't wait to see the pages you create to go within.
ReplyDeleteI only started my Art Journal this year because it is always too dark in the winter months to scrap as I can't see shades very well. With my AJ, I can work daily & complete at a weekend. That way I feel I have actually created something other than backgrounds for cards.
So beautiful - such subtle muted colours but with great depth to them. Gorgeous use of all the embellishments - love the finish on those pen nibs. Thank you so much for joining us on A Vintage Journey.

Fantastic piece, love all the different elements, and the gorgeous colours.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this to bits Sandy! You really have 'got' this style beautifully here, and that's not the easiest thing to do. Be proud! Thanks for joining us at A Vintage Journey. Jenny x
