I need a card for my Dad's birthday tomorrow and was at a loss for a theme. Then Simon Says Stamp and Show presented their weekly challenge with "Into The Woods". Since we live in the Southwest, the wild wild west, wood makes me think rustic so I had to go with a cowgirl.
When the card is pulled open, it reveals the message inside a box.
I used some great wood grained paper from my stash. Last week at our Scrapbook Club meeting two ladies did a great demo on a box card and I wanted to use it before I forgot. I will give you the cutting and scoring template at the bottom of the post.
I cut out some brown card stock on my e cutter to make the front look like barn doors. The door panels were then embossed with wood grain.
After stamping my greeting it was punched out with a 1.5" circle punch.
I stamped, colored and cut out my image for the front of the card. These are some of my favorite images from an Arizona Artist, Terry Medaris. I colored two images since I was not sure where I was going with this. I finished off the inside of the card with two cute stickers from Creative Imaginations and a hand written message.
So for not really having a plan to start with - I think it came together pretty well.
As promised, here is the Box Card Template for those who wish to try it.

DeleteHi Sandy. Shut the front door! :) This is such a cute card! Love the way it folds and what you've done to create such a cool bran door effect with Tim's woodgrain texture fade. Your cowgirl is such a cute stamp and you've used such bright, fun colors on her. Love your design! Thanks for sharing your wonderful card with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. <3 Candy
