Think Outside of the Box

 Hi friends,

Today begins a new challenge over at A Vintage Journey and we were asked us to Think Inside or Outside of the box.  I decided to think Outside the box and made my design on the outside of an unused Configuration Box.  This is such a fun challenge because there are so many possibilities.

To begin my project I covered the box with gesso and then used some Aladine Texture Paste and one of their great stencils to add a doily design.

One more coat of gesso -

I gave the box a spray of Dye Izink, dabbed off some color and then gave it a dry brushing of gesso.
I used a frame from my stash, covered it with gesso.  Next I gave the frame a coat of green using Dye Izink spray.  I glued the frame onto the box and added a few embellishments and the word "Bliss".

Next I added a couple flowers that I sprayed with the same color as the box but watered it down a bit.

I added this beautiful butterfly from Graphic 45 and then added the flowers using brads that were attached through the holes shown above.

The word was painted with gesso and then I put a few highlights of the blue on top. I then added some white gesso splats.

The entire thing was finished off  with some Nuvo Drops.

Have a creative weekend,
S@ndy

  3. Sandy, this is so gorgeous, and so fun to see how it came together! Your stenciled background is stunning, and I agree with Julia on seeing that again as the forefront. But your embellishments really make this shine--that butterfly and frame are really beautiful and the perfect focal point! You did an amazing job with this box! Hugs!
