Graphic 45 Design Team 2012 Audition

Domestic Goddess Vintage Recipe Box

This little project is both cute and functional.  It looks adorable sitting on the counter and will prove useful too. When you are ready to use one of your recipes,  simply find the recipe you want and place it on the rolling pin which is on the front of the box. The recipe can now be referred to very easily. The box was finished off with a doilie, some eating utensils and of course a cupcake.

I started out with a G45 Box and covered it with Domestic Goddess Paper, inside and out.

Inside I used a small file that was designed for coupons but works well as a recipe file. After covering all the dividers with G45 paper I simply added some embellishments and my recipes (vintage recipes from my mother-in-law).

Materials Used:
Graphic 45 Box
Graphic 45 Domestic Goddess Collection
Coupon File

 Steampunk Cascade Card

This card was shown on Splitcoaststampers awhile ago along with the instructions.  I really liked it and wanted to give it a try.  I used the G45 Steampunk Debutante Paper Line and added a Tim Holtz Pocket Watch on the front.

As you can see - it is actually a greeting card and folds flat for mailing.

Shown below is the construction.  Not as hard as it looks!
The main body is made from one 12 X 12 piece of cardstock.

Materials Used:
Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante Collection
Graphic 45 Steampunk Stamp from Hampton Arts
Tim Holtz Pocket Watch & Pin Nib
Tim Holtz Mini Dress Form Die

A Day At The Circus

While shopping at Hobby Lobby one day I happened to find this cute little bare wood circus picture frame.  As soon as I saw it I knew it would be perfect for the G45 Le Cirque Paper Collection.  I painted the entire thing red and started adding papers.  Using the Tim Holtz Rosette Die for the wheels (added some blue stars for the center) and topper all I had to do was cut out the Ring Master, embellish him and then add him to the wagon.  I couldn't help myself, I added a cute photo of my grand daughters and it is good to go.

A few shots of the progress:

Circus Train Car

A Proper Gentleman

I love to find stuff in the garage for my projects. One day I found a round thing-a-ma-jig that I'm told is for hanging ceiling fans.  Anyway, I decided that it needed rust.  I used a new product called Magic Metallic which worked great.  I used a real pocket watch but it is the exact size of the Tim Holtz Pocket Watch.

I put a picture of my Grandfather (at age 25) in the center of the watch and glued it on the fan thing-a-ma-jig and backed it with red cardstock.  I used the Tim Holtz Gadget Gears "on the edge" Die for the base and then added all the gears from the watch on the outside of the case.  Sort of an Inside Out Watch.  I was happy with it but it still needed something more.  Long story short, I found a small box at Hobby Lobby that had a drawer.  I covered it with Graphic 45 paper from their Proper Gentleman Line and placed the Inside Out Watch on top.  I decorated the front of the drawer with a piece of metal from Ten Second Studios that I cut with the Tim Holtz Bookplate Die.  The finishing touch was a knob from Graphic 45 Staples.

A Gentleman's Travel Log

While visiting our local scrapbook store one afternoon I found a Suitcase Album made by Pine Cone Press.  It was a kit to make into your own.  I like the Proper Gentleman Collection and decided that a "Travel Log" was in order.  I covered the outside with some leather looking paper and the inside with the G45 Proper Gentleman.  The clasp is a G45 Staples Door plate that was bent over the edge of the suitcase and attached on the back with a G45 hinge so the album opens. I made the straps from some strong paper and then inked it with Distress Ink, Vintage Photo.  The buckles are made with two D Rings held in the strap with brads.  I hung a Tim Holtz key and a compass made with a 7 gypsies glass embellishment.

For the inside I used a few different lines of Graphic 45 because they all work so well together.  The binding is the "Stack The Deck" method shown on Laura Denison's blog.  I added a small Tim Holtz Ring Binder in the center and decorated each page to hold photos, tags and journaling.

Materials Used:
Graphic 45 Staples, Door Plate

Valentine Votive

Although Valentine's Day has passed I wanted to share this votive made from a G45 box.  I saw this idea on Laura Denison's blog where she made a Christmas Stocking Hanger.  I used the Tim Holtz Legs instead of a stocking holder and wrapped the box with ribbon and added a knob on top.

After cutting out a section of the inner box I added 3 battery operated votive candles which gives off a soft glow.

Materials Used:
Graphic 45 Box
Tim Holtz Legs
Assorted Papers
Jewelry Findings (bird branch w/nest)
Battery Operated Votives
Ribbon
