You Hold The Key

Hi and welcome, while I'm busy at CHA, I thought I would share a tag made a few weeks ago for Elizabeth Craft Designs (ECD).  They have a wonderful new release out just in time for Valentine's Day with some lovely Entwined Hearts.  I used the Entwined Hearts along with a real key and some nontraditional colors to celebrate the day.

Tags are a fun and fast way to create some art without having to worry too much about measuring and cutting paper to make a card.

After cutting my tag, I used some Distress Ink to color and then embossed it using the ECD Lots of Dots embossing folder.  The large Entwined Heart was added and then the small one.  The tiny hearts are from the same die set.  I used the new Love Sentiments for the xx's & oo's.  On the key I used the smallest heart from the Fitted Hearts set and the open heart is from the Accordion Rectangle die designed by Karen Burniston.  The entire thing was finished off with some computer printed words.

Have a wonderfully creative week,

You Rock!

Hi friends, just a quick stop today with a card I made for a challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges Blog. The theme this month is "Old Rock Day".  Who knew there was such a day?  Here is what my friend Caz Counsell asked for in her challenge:

"Create something to do with Rock. Could be a scene with mountains, Rock n Roll, Stone style Paper, A brick wall or a precious gem!"

For my card, I used some of the new release dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs, you can see them all here.  I also used some Soft Finish Cardstock and the rocks are Through the Lens Paper.

I must confess, my card is completely Pinterest inspired.  I guess that's why they put it out there.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Designers Challenge - From the Heart

Hi everyone and welcome to the first Designers Challenge for 2017.   I hope you will stop by the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog today to see what the new Die Cutting Design Team members have made.  We will be introducing you to the fabulous new release and I know you will want to see everything.  This time around, our theme is "From the Heart" and I have a mixed media project to share with you today using the new Leafy Lace Heart die.

I wanted my jewelry box to look like an old copper treasure that has a lovely patina.

I started with an ordinary paper mache' heart shaped box that I got at my local craft store.  Any shape could be used for this project but the heart fit perfectly on this box.

Cut the Leafy Lace Heart twice using manila cardstock, then glue the two together to make a thick layer, then glue the heart to the top of the box and let dry.

Using cardstock, cut a strip that in tall enough to cover the sides of the box and long enough to go completely around.   Emboss the paper strip using the Hear Strings Embossing folder and then glue in place.

When glue has dried, paint box and lid with a mixture of gesso and ink.  Don't mix the colors, simply add a drop of reinker into a puddle of gesso as shown.  Load a paint brush with the mixture having green on one side and gesso on the other. This makes the color streak giving light and darker shades of green.  Distress Reinker, Peeled Paint, was used here.

When paint is dry, pounce a Versamark ink pad gently in random areas.  Sprinkle copper embossing powder over inked area - brushing off excess with a soft brush.  Heat set embossing powder.

On January 24th the new Elizabeth Craft Designs Coloring Design Team will take the spotlight with their challenge.  Please drop by the blog here for a visit - you will be amazed and inspired.

Stay Crafty My Friends,

Going Round In Circles @ A Vintage Journey

It's time for a new Challenge at A Vintage Journey and this time our lovely hostess, Brenda, wants us to use circles.  This was a fun challenge because it gave me a good chance to use some of my steampunk dies and stamps along with a fun glittered background.

Here's how I did it!

Finished card size is a standard 4.25" X 5.5"

I covered my piece of cardstock on the front with Clear Double Sided Adhesive.  Next I cut out the Circles Background.   I didn't need the extra pieces for this card so I placed them all in a small plastic bag and saved them for another day.  After removing the adhesive backing from the front side of panel, I covered it with Chocolate Glitter and polished it so the glitter would stay in place.

I adhered the panel to the card base.

I used my Misti to stamp the greeting from the Steampunk Clear Stamps in a horizontal style rather than vertical on the coordinating paper.  I cut the greeting out using a small fishtail banner.  I cut a larger banner and covered it with glitter.  Next I cut some gears and covered them with Rust glitter.

After arranging all elements as desired, everything was glued down.

I have provided links to all products used below.

Have a great weekend,

Hanakkah

Hi all,

Just a quick stop today to share a card that I made for our friends who celebrate Hanukkah.  I was very slow this year and just got it to them on the last day of Hanukkah.  It was fun to make, I used Karen Burniston's Lots of Pops and Agatha edges for the inside and then added the candles using the  Candles die from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The candles and Star of David are glittered - messy but lovely.

Have a Crafty Week,

Happy New Year!

Hi my friends and Happy New Year.  I'm stopping by today to share some of the exciting new dies  from Elizabeth Craft Designs.  The new designs will be released during the month of January and you are in for a treat with some fun projects shown by the new teams.  ECD has two design teams, one for coloring and one for die cutting.

I'm proud to say that I am part of the Die Cutting Team for 2017 and I have my first project today - so here we go -

Valentine's Day will be here before we know it and Elizabeth Craft Designs is releasing some great heart shapes to help you get your cards made in no time.  For this card I've used the new Stitched Hearts which has several sizes that all work together.  Also featured on this Easel Card is the Dandelion Fluff die set, Love Sentiments, Happy Flowers, Dancing Butterflies and Leafy Branch 5, all shown here in the COMING SOON section.

Here are some helpful hints that will help you make one too.

Using the largest of the hearts in the Stitched Hearts, cut one solid heart.  Nesting the largest heart and next size smaller, cut 4 times.  Stack and glue all hearts together with solid one as the base.

Cut 2 more hearts from the set, 2 butterflies, one Leafy Branch, 2 small and 1 large Dandelion Fluff.

Using the Love Sentiments, cut 1 Hugs.  Cut one Happy Flower.

I cut everything using white Soft Finish Cardstock and then used Copic Markers to color everything.

I cut the leafy branch into smaller sections to use on the card.
Make the card base using directions for a regular easel card.  The finished size of this card is
4.5" X 6".

Arrange all elements as desired and glue in place.

Hope you have enjoyed seeing my card and please join me on January 5th on the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog where I will be sharing another one of my favorites from the new release.

Happy Crafting,
