Tag Friday at A Vintage Journey

Hi my friends and welcome to Tag Friday (across the pond).  This time I simply wanted to make a reminder to myself to make more time for ART in 2017.  I will display this tag somewhere I'm my home as a reminder and hopefully it will work.  I'm not one to make New Years Resolutions so this may do the trick.  To see all the tags from the team click here.  This tag is my entry into the Tim Holtz 12 tags of 2016.  Hopefully I will have more tags next year.

Happy New Year and make time for ART!

Designers Challenge Week - Hee Haw

Yay! it's Designer Challenge week and this time I got to pick the theme.  Now that Christmas is behind us and it's not quite time for new years, I decided on "Party Animals".  I was thinking about this theme and then thought, why not Hee Haw?  Hee Haw was a fun TV Show that was a country party every week. I watched some clips on YouTube and found that it was still funny, maybe even funnier than the first time around.

I kept the front of my card simple because all the fun is on the inside.

Here I dressed up some of the farm characters from the Pop it Ups Collection by Karen Burrniston for Elizabeth Craft Designs.  Hope you have a little giggle, as I did, while making this one.

This is a 5" X 7" card so start with a 10" X 7" piece of cardstock and crease in the center.

With crease at the top, mark 2 lines that are 2" long and each is 1" from the sides.
Cut where marked.  Crease between the cut lines and fold in opposite direction for center fold.
It will look like photo below.

With card spread out flat, place Lots of Pops Pop Up on each crease with the alignment nubs on crease.  See below.

Fold out the Lots of Pops as usual and it should look like the photo below.

I chose some paper that I thought would look like hay and added it to the Lots of Pops.  I used some woodgrain paper to the back, cutting the edges with the Barn Pop Stand.

To add that feeling of hay, I cut some edges with the outdoor edges and added them randomly to the background.  After cutting and assembling the Characters, I added them to the hay bales.
The Characters are having a Hee Haw good time with Cocoa the Horse looking in the window.

To see how the rest of the team interrupted the "Party Animal" theme check out Karen's Facebook page here.  Don't forget to tune in to Karen's blog tomorrow to see a new technique and video.

Happy New Year,

All I Want For Christmas

Hi all and welcome to the first Designer Challenge for December.  Of course
Karen Burnistion wanted us to do something for the season and the theme is "All I Want For Christmas".   Everyone is busy making their home warm & cozy, decorating and baking at this time of year.  I'm sharing my snow globe today that shows the completed, welcoming home.

This card  is a 6" X  6" with a top fold.  My cute little house is from the House Pivot card from the Pop it Ups collection and decorated for Christmas using some elements from the Holiday House.

I made this card the same way you would make a shaker card but added a surprise by using some Chibi LED Lights.  They are fun and easy to use.  I added a removable sticker for the recipient so they would know what to do.

When you press, the windows light up.  What more could you want for Christmas than a warm welcome?

There are lots of videos on YouTube on how to install these lights on your cards.

Stop by Karen's Facebook Page to see everything the team put together for this challenge and go to her blog tomorrow to see a great new video and technique.

Have a crafty week,

Warm Winter Wishes

Hi everyone,  I'm doing a quick stop by today with a card I made using an idea from Karen Burniston.  She has been revisiting some of her older videos, using the Pop it Ups collection from Elizabeth Craft Designs, and then doing a new version of her cards using the same techniques.  I have used the same techniques as Karen on this snowman card - that's what it is all about, sharing..

I didn't use a sentiment on the front, just a wintery scene and a label from the Circles & Labels die.
The addition of the snowflake just finishes it off to perfection.

I love this snowman and the way he pops up from the center of the card on the Twist Circle.  The outdoor edges create and wintery scene for the background.

Warm Winter Wishes,
