February T!M Tag

Hi Friends,

Well, here it is the last day of the month and I am just posting my tag for February.  I always seem to wait until the last minute and this time is no exception.  It seems that this theme and tag will fit in with the new challenge over at Mixed Media Monthly so will give that a go as well.

I used all the techniques that Tim showed on his tag and had a great time with it once I decided to get moving.  I just got the new Feather Die with the matching Embossing Folder and wanted to use it.  I can see that it will become one of my favorites.

Going to run now and post my tag on Tim's blog - hope you have enjoyed.

A Very Special Number

Although Valentine's Day has pasted for this year I'm still in the hearts and cupid mood.  Just a few days ago my parents celebrated their 70th (yes, you heard me right, 70 ) wedding anniversary.  I just wanted to share the card I made for them.  The challenge for this time over at A Vintage Journey is Special Numbers.  I have a very special number indeed.

I feel so lucky to have both of them and for them to be married 70 years is truly a special event.  I have included a photo of them on their wedding day in 1945.

Before I get into the details I would like to give you a heads up about some changes happening at A Vintage Journey Blog. On March the 6th we will be celebrating our first birthday and we will have a special challenge and some prizes for you. The most significant changes will be a move to a monthly challenge theme. In the future the winner will be chosen by Random Org but we will continue with our Top 3 Pinworthies and our Pinterest boards. The structure for the month will change and Fridays will very much be about projects and guests and Mondays will hold a completely new format of Destination Inspiration posts linked to a monthly menu of a product, a color, a technique and a substrate.  Mix those four things with four Creative Guides and there will be some wonderful informative posts for you. Some of the months will include five weeks and when this happens you will see the return of our very popular Tag Fridays.

So now on to how I made this card.
I used Sizzix Die #660025 which comes with all the main pieces you need for this card.  For the little photo holder I used Elizabeth Craft Designs Die #961

I used some kraft colored paper from Core dinations that I had sanded to raise the pattern.  The music note paper is some I had in my stash. The red is from Stampin up, Cherry Cobbler.

Next all the edges were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I found the photo I wanted and then sized it to fit the tag which I wanted to look like a small clipboard.  After cutting out all the pieces - I simply assembled the card, added some of Tim's wonderful twine and a heart charm. On the border I used the die from the set and then added the little hearts that came from the larger ones on the side.  A little tedious but worth the effort.

Hope you have enjoyed my card and will stop over at A Vintage Journey to see what the rest of the very talented design team members have made for this challenge.

The Cutesy Factor

I'm back today with my Cutesy Card as promised.  I don't usually do cutesy but I can't resist a challenge.  Karen Burniston challenged us to do either Artsy or Cutesy so I decided to do both. You can see my Artsy from yesterday by clicking here.
This seems to be a good one also for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge
which is All Creatures, Big and Small

For the front of the card I simply used the Agatha Edge Die along with the hearts from the Heart Pivot Die.  The stamp is from Stampin' Up.  I had this great white Valentine embossed paper from DCWV in my stash.

Now for the Cutesy Part!

This "cutesy" little ewe is made of Q Tips.  I first saw it at our scrapbook club, it was found on Pinterest by another member,  I just had to make one.  Fun and cutesy!  I used the Lorna Label die for the base with Stampin' Up cardstock because it is strong and this embellishment is rather heavy. After adding some trees and clouds from the All Seasons Tree Die Set.  I made some grass with the Outdoor Edges. I used some Grunge Board letters from my stash and another heart from the Heart Pivot Set to finish the phrase.

That's it for now, hope you have enjoyed!  Have a great week.

Won't you be my ValenTime?

Hi All,

I'm here today to share a card I made for the Karen Burniston monthly challenge.  This month she challenged us to make either an Artsy Card or a Cutesy Card.  I, no surprise, decided to go with Artsy.  I'm planning a Cutesy one as well but that will be in the next post so stop by tomorrow to see what I did about Cutesy.

Did you ever have one of those projects that just had a mind of it's own?  Well, this card was that project for me.  It seemed that every piece I cut, glued or folded was wrong somehow.  After much trail to my patience, and I don't have much, I finished it!!  It wasn't at all the card I had in mind when I started but I'm very happy with the end result.

I used the Rectangle Pull Card Die and extended the flap and used the Agatha Edge.  You will see in the next photo that you need to decorate the inside of the flap to cover the extension, again using the Agatha Edge.  I did all the stamping with the alpha set from Tim Holtz.

I love the way Karen has designed her dies in the Pop it Ups line to work so well together.  I used parts and pieces from lots of different die sets for decorating this card.  The wings on the gear and clock are from the Butterfly Pivot Card and I used hearts from the Heart Pivot Card along with the Agatha Edge Die, Rectangle Pull Card and Clock & Gears Die.
Thanks Karen.

Be sure to go on over to the Elizabeth Craft Designs Blog here to see all the great cards from the design team as well as Karen's new video on Wednesday February 11th.

Have a fabulous and crafty week,

Home Tweet Home

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick post today to enter my latest mixed media canvas in a couple challenges.  I found this old ladle in the china cabinet a  few days ago so decided to use it as a home for my little birdie friend.

I wanted to get in another make for the Finnabair challenge, Sparkle & Shine.
Over at Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge they are asking for the letter H.
At The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge they want us to Think Pink.

I used pastels for this one which is outside my comfort zone but I'm happy with the result.  I hope you enjoy it as well.

Have a great weekend,
