HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

A short note to wish all the Mom's out there a very happy day!  Here is the card I made for my Mom.  It is an easel card, I used lots of Tim stuff including the Rock Candy Distress Glitter.  I didn't go too crazy with it, just a little on the roses and butterfly and a sprinkle on the edge of the phrase tag.

I will be adding my name to the list of entries over at Linda Ledbetter blog where the current challenge is Distress Glitter from Tim's book Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 3.  You can see all of the entries here.

Here's How I made it!

I decided I wanted to have the finished card a 6.25” X 4.50” easel card.  I cut my manila paper 6.25 X 9 and then scored at 4.5” and at 2.25”.

I used Sizzix die #658693 which is a set of famelits using the largest one.  I marked my die so I could line it up with the score line.

Don’t be afraid to mark your die, it makes cutting much easier and you can always remove the marks later.   I like to use a Sharpie so it does not rub off on your paper.  Line up your mark on the score line and then cover only to the score line with the cutting pad.

After running the card through the die machine it should look like this.
I made my roses using the Tattered Pinecone Die and following Tim’s instructions and some paper from Core-dinations.  I added a pearl in the center and then used the Distress Glitter.  If you want to see how this is accomplished you need to pick up Tim’s book, Compendium of Curiosities Vol. 3—page 55.  We are not to share his techniques and I respect that!

I used manila for the base of this card and then stenciled the bottom section with Tim’s Harlequin Stencil.  I planned on using a piece of Core-dinations paper that is brown on one side and pink on the other so I used a combination Vintage Photo DI and Picked Raspberry DI.  I put some Vintage Photo on my color blender and then tapped it into some Picked Raspberry and ended up with just the color I was looking for, brown with just a small touch of pink.  I did the same with the ribbon, using the Crinkle
Ribbon and the two inks.  I cut, embossed and sanded another panel of the paper and added it to the top.  I then cut another panel of manila, stamped it and added the glittered butterfly.  One more strip of brown embossed paper added with pop up foam and I was done.

Hope you have a crafty week,
