All About Him

Hi Everyone,

The current challenge over at A Vintage Journey is themed "All About Him" so I made a "Bendifold Card" to celebrate my Dad's 90th birthday.  I first saw the bendifold card on Splitcoast Stampers awhile back, you can see the instructions here.  I decided to make the bendi part of my card from acrylic and I like how it makes the letters appear to be floating.

I started out with one of my favorite old family photos that shows my Dad as a small child.  The photo actually has an old jalopy so I scaled my own photo to fit the Tim Holtz Old Jalopy Die.

I originally made my base card from kraft but changed my mind along the way and ended up using the embossed kraft paper for the car fenders and bumpers.  For the background I ended up using a piece of Coredinations paper, embossed it with the Clocks Texture Fade and then sanded.

I added some gears for wheels and then highlighted my Dad with the Monocle and pointy finger.

Next I placed a recent photo of Dad in the Mini Pocket Watch.

I used the curved arrow from the Alfa Parts to show how far he has come.  I learned a good thing along the way - the Tonic Scissors cuts the plastic Alfa Parts so I changed the end of the arrow to go the way I wanted it to.  I finished it all off by cutting the letters that I needed with the Wordplay Die.

Happy Birthday Dad

Have a great "all about him", day,

  8. That is so cool, Sandy! The acrylic bendi-fold looks just amazing with, as you say, the lettering just hovering in space - so clever and so effective. I love how you've used the arrow to connect the two photographs - wonderful idea - and altogether it's a brilliant card, and a great tribute to your father. Birthday congratulations to him too!
